We were asked by a Chartered Surveyor to provide a cost for carrying out a complete strip out of a Kitchen following water damage, the leak originally came from a valve behind the fridge/freezer and was undetected for some time, it was only noticed when the floor tiles started to crack.
Once the Kitchen had been professionally removed and taken to a storage facility, the existing tiled floor, insulation and plastic membrane were removed so that the concrete oversight could be checked for any damage; all electrical and plumbing connections were disconnected together with the removal of plaster board at low level to facilitate the repairs. A new plastic membrane was installed and new ‘Jablite’ Insulation laid over the membrane, new interlocking water proof sections of floor were laid level, all to the existing datum points.
The plaster board to the perimeter at low level was reinstated and plastered. The floor was then primed and a layer of Ditra matting installed, the new floor tiles were then laid in a brick bond pattern, grouted and sealer applied.
All services, Kitchen units, worktops and appliances were professionally reinstated. The room was then decorated to the client’s choice of finish.
